Hon. Franklin J. Demonteverde

Judge Franklin J. Demonteverde started his career in the judiciary as the Presiding Judge of Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 55 of Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental in 2006.

While acting as Presiding Judge in 2007, he became the President of Negros Occidental RTC Judges Association until 2011. Because of his invaluable contribution to the Justice Reform Initiatives Support (JURIS) Project as Trainer, Facilitator, and Champion of Judicial Dispute Resolution, he received a plaque of appreciation from the Supreme Court JURIS in 2008.

In 2010, he transferred to RTC Branch 44, Bacolod City still as a Presiding Judge until his retirement in 2014.

Only five (5) years after his appointment to the judiciary, he was elected as the first president of the Philippine Judges Association (PJA) who came from the Visayas and Mindanao regions in 2011. He represented the Association as an Ex-Officio Member of the Philippine Judicial Academy (PHILJA).

Before joining the judiciary, Judge Demonteverde also served as president of Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) -Negros Occidental Chapter from 2001-2003. Under his term, the Chapter was adjudged one of the Top Four Most Outstanding Chapters in the country, and the Most Outstanding Chapter in Legal Aid. It was also during his term when the chapter was accredited as MCLE Provider.

Through the years, he has been involved in some civic organizations. He became Grand Master of Masons, Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of the Philippines in 1999-2000 with supervisory functions over all lodges situated in Guam, Saipan, and the rest of the Marianas Islands and as well as in Okinawa, part of Japan, and South Korea. He is an active member to this date.

Judge Demonteverde also received various leadership awards and recognition from civic organizations including YMCA of the Philippines, Lions International, YMCA of Negros Occidental, Inc., Y’s Men International, Philippine Region, and Negrense 200 Foundations, Inc. In 2017, he was extended the Banwahanon Award by the Local Government of Bacolod City for being its Most Outstanding Citizen.

Prior to his appointment in the JBC, he was the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Metropolitan Waterworks & Sewerage System (MWSS) from 2017- 2019.

He is married to Maria Lorna Gaddi Piccio-Demonteverde, a retired Presiding Judge of Branch 2, Municipal Trial Court in Cities (MTCC), Bacolod City, with whom he has six children.

For 40 years since his admission to the legal profession, he has been honoured and humbled to serve the country and its people through knowledge and abidance of the law.
