Brief Resume of Atty. Jose V. Mejia
Atty. Jose V. Mejia hails from Arayat, Pampanga. He finished AB Economics at the Ateneo de Manila University where he graduated in 1980. He then proceeded to take up law also at the Ateneo de Manila School of Law and graduated in 1985. After passing the bar in 1986, he briefly joined the Sepidoza Laogan Law Offices and then transferred to the Office of then Sen. Rene Saguisag as Senior Technical Consultant.
After his Senate stint, he joined the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) as Director of the Special Concerns Office in 1990, and went back to the private sector in 1995 by joining TVI Minerals, a Canadian Mining company as Senior Vice-President –Legal Affairs. He resumed his private practice in 2000 and became a partner of the Ligon Solis Mejia Florendo and Cruz Law Firm.
During all this time, he was with the academe having been a faculty member and University Secretary of the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila and its College of Law. He also taught at the Ateneo de Manila School of Law and the College of the Holy Spirit until he joined De La Salle University (DLSU) as a full-time faculty member in the year 2000. He was the Chair of the Commercial Law Department of the DLSU College of Business for three academic years. Until his appointment to the Judicial and Bar Council representing the Academe, Atty. Mejia taught at the College of Business and Economics and the DLSU College of Law.
